The Netherlands is sending another 3 million euros in extra aid to drought stricken Ethiopia, Minister Lilianne Ploumen of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation announced on Monday, ANP reports.
The extra money is intended to be used for food for children in the African country. “Parts of Ethiopia will be out of food in a few months if the international community does not intervene quickly”, Ploumen said on Monday.
Ethiopia is one of the countries suffering from the effects of weather phenomenon El Nino. Due to drought in the country, about 18 million Ethiopians are currently dependent on food aid, especially in region sin the east and south of the country.
